Second Sunday in Ordinary Time (19 January)

Introduction (by the Presider) Let us raise our prayers to God, who works wonders among all the peoples:

  1. For all who believe in Christ — that we may do whatever Christ tells us (pause and pray). Lord, hear us.
  2. For greater friendship between the Christian churches (pause and pray).Lord, hear us.
  3. For the success of the ceasefire in Gaza (pause and pray).Lord, hear us.
  4. For a lasting peace in the Middle East and in Ukraine (pause and pray).Lord, hear us.
  5. For those who lost their homes, businesses and churches in the wildfires in Los Angeles (pause and pray).Lord, hear us.
  6. For a blessing on our Catholic schools, we pray (pause and pray).Lord, hear us.

The Presider prays for the dead: For our people who have died (especially N and N), that they may sing God’s praises in their eternal home (pause and pray). Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider) Loving God, we proclaim to the nations: ‘God is king:’ let your power be seen as you answer the prayers we make, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
